Green School Initiative
Class of 2012 green project
Members of our class of 2012 put together a public service announcement as part of the requirements for
Green School status.
Water quality projects
Students in our science classes participated in several water quality projects. The intent of the projects was
to survey the quality of the water and the surrounding watershed.
Wind turbine project
The GM/Discovery Education Live Green grant allowed us to build two wind turbines this year and we are happy to say
that both turbines are up and producing electricity for the lighting in Mr. Bliss's classroom. Although there are
still some adjustments and modifications to be made to optimize the system, we are happy with the results. The turbines
will be taken down for the summer then re-erected next fall and allowed to run for the school year.
We have included a brief video of our machines in action and a PowerPoint presentation of the design and building
process will soon follow. Many thanks to the parents, staff, and administration that helped make this possible.
