Good Morning Cougars, Due to an electrical outage, Superior Central will be closed today, Monday, October 26, 2020. Sorry for the late notice.

Superior Central is pleased to now provide breakfast and lunch to students enrolled in our online academy. 5 meals will be served per week. On Monday from 9:30-10:30 parents can pick up 2 days of breakfast and lunch. On Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 parents can pick up 3 days of breakfast and lunch. Please submit your breakfast and lunch requests on Monday and Wednesday mornings by 9:00 a.m. Parents are asked to pick up the meals under the canopy at the High School entrance. Good Morning, With next week bringing the end of the football season, the Student Council has declared the week of October 19th, Spirit Week.  The dress up days for the week are below: Monday - Pajama Day Tuesday - Twin Day Wednesday - Opposite Day Thursday - Teacher Day Friday - Blue Day or Pink Day (Breast Cancer Awareness) Next Saturday's Home Football Game will kick off at 11:00 a.m. to avoid conflict with the U.P. Cross Country Finals.

Dear SC Community, Effective immediately all meals at Superior Central will be free to all students! This was announced by the United States Department of Agriculture today. It is important that families still fill out their free and reduced lunch applications and return them to school as soon as possible as the Michigan Department of Education told us today that the free meals will only last until December 31, 2020 or until all of the funds for this program are exhausted. Once this programs ends we will go back to charging normal meal fees. Have a great night!

Hello SC Students and Parents, Tomorrow is the start of the 2020-21 school year for in-person instruction. The doors open at 7:55. Elementary students will report to their classrooms. Staff will be assisting students to where they need to go. Middle and High school students will be reporting to the high school gym upon arrival. We will be making any necessary scheduling adjustments during the day. The first couple of days may be a little hectic without having an open house, so please be patient as we work out the kinks. We look forward to seeing all of you!

Dear Superior Central Parents and Guardians, As you have probably heard, the Governor’s Office, along with the COVID-19 Task Force on Education and the Return to School Advisory Committee, has released the MI Safe Schools: Michigan’s 2020-21 Return to School Roadmap. This Roadmap provides and strongly recommends safety protocols to keep school communities safe based on the status of the Coronavirus. The Roadmap also provides recommendations for mental and social-emotional health, instruction, and operations within each phase of the Michigan Safe Start Plan. Depending on the status of the MI Safe Schools, there are three scenarios for schools opening back up in the fall. 1. Phase 6 – Schools open for in-person instruction with minimal required safety protocols. 2. Phase 5 – Schools open for in-person instruction with moderate required safety protocols. 3. Phase 4 – Schools open for in-person instruction with stringent required safety protocols. 4. Phases 1-3 – Schools do not open for in-person instruction and instruction is provided remotely. So that we can make a return to school plan that is safe and appropriate for our district, the administration and the Superior Central School Board kindly ask that you complete our “Return to School – Parent Survey”. Hey SC Families! We realize that some of you were unable to return your school materials last week. Textbooks are expensive (ranging from $75 to over $100) and we'd really like to get them back. If you have some would you please return them to the school? We've put out our book return in front of the high school doors. Please drop your books in at any time. Chromebooks are also expensive. If you have not returned your chromebook please DO NOT drop it in the book return. Instead, email me @ bvalima@superiorcentralschools.org to arrange a drop off. Thanks.

Reminder: When returning chromebooks and other supplies tonight, please do not leave your vehicle. This is a drive-thru event, please do not park. Thanks for your understanding as we try to make this a quick process for all families.

Yesterday the Governor signed EO 2020-48 suspending the monthly meeting requirement for local school boards until May 12, 2020. With that, we will be cancelling our board meeting scheduled for Monday, April 20th. Our next scheduled meeting is for Monday, May 18th. Stay Healthy!

UPDATE ON SAKYLLY'S EGGS! Sakylly's eggs were delivered to the school the day that the Governor issued the "Stay Safe, Stay Home" order. This meant that we did not have time to sort the eggs by teacher, or personalize them. Initially, I thought it would be best to wait out the "lockdown" and get eggs out when we went back to school. Now that Easter is a week away, there has been an increased demand for eggs. If you absolutely need your eggs, Superior Central orders will be available for pick up in the Elementary lot on Thursday, April 9th from noon until 1:00. Please stay in your car, your eggs will be brought to you. In order to fulfill your order, please email Bill Valima at bvalima@superiorcentralschools.org by 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 7th. For your order to be processed, you MUST INCLUDE the student/family your purchased your egg from. Please understand that eggs will not have personalized frosted names on them. Parents, if you are picking up your entire order, please let me know. If you can wait until the Governor's "Stay Safe, Stay Home" order is lifted, your eggs will still be available for you. Hey SC Family, Just a reminder that the AC3 group has non-perishable breakfast and lunch food available at the Village Pub and the Silver Dollar right now! They will be distributing until 7:00 tonight. Thanks again to this amazing community for helping out in this crazy time.

Dear Superior Central Family, We sure have some great folks in our community. Please see the information I received today from the AC3 group. With help and support from our local community, The Communities That Care will be providing Alger-Packs at the Silver Dollar in Trenary, and the Village Pub in Chatham, this Tuesday at 4pm. These packs will contain two weeks worth of breakfast and lunch foods to help families effected by the School closures. The packs will be available at these locations throughout the week.

With the school being shut down due to COVID-19, BINGO for March is also cancelled. The next scheduled BINGO is Saturday, April 11th.

Good Morning Cougars! What a crazy 7 hours it has been. As you may have heard, last night at around 11:00 Governor Whitmer ordered that all schools in Michigan will be closed from Monday, March 16th to Sunday, April 5th. We WILL have school today, Friday, March 13th and will be dismissing at 12:30 as scheduled. I will do my best to keep you updated as more information is given from the state. Also, as you may know, our phone server went down yesterday and calls cannot be made to the school. We still have the ability to call out. We hope to have them back up and running today.
